Quinoa can be cooked in a fewsteps.
First, you have to prepare 1 cup quinoa, ½ tsp salt, and 1 ½ cups cold water.
Place the quinoa in a cooking pot and soak it in water for 15 to 30 minutes. This will loosen the quinoa’s outer coating, which can be bitter if not removed.
If you do not have time for soaking, you can immerse the quinoa in hot water for 5 minutes. Rinse the quinoa once or twice.
Use your hand to stir the quinoa. After stirring for 2 to 3 minutes, discard the water. You can use a sieve to prevent the quinoa from being washed away.
Place the quinoa back into the pot. Rinse it 2 to 3 more times. The water should be clear on the third rinse.
Through your sieve, drain the quinoa for the last time. Place the quinoa back in the cooking pot. Add the water and salt you have prepared.
Cover the pot tightly and let it boil. Once the quinoa is boiling, reduce the heat to simmer. Let it cook for 20 minutes.
Remove the pot from the heat. Without removing the lid, let the quinoa cool down for 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, use a fork to gently fluff up the quinoa.
You can serve quinoa on its own or with boiled or fried vegetables. Certain types of dressing, black beans, tomatoes, or lettuce are good additions to quinoa.
