There are many ways of cooking tilapia. Batter fried tilapia, for instance, is a popular example of a “tilapia meal.”
For this dish, you need 2 ½ lb tilapia fillets, salt and pepper, ½ cup of flour, ½ to 1 cup of milk, 2 eggs, vegetable oil, and plain bread crumbs.
Use cold water to rinse the tilapia fillets, then drain them thoroughly.
Using a knife, cut the fillets into 2 x 1 inch slices.
Next, add salt and pepper to the flour. The amount of salt and pepper added varies according to taste.
Lightly cover the fillets with the flour mixture. Then, mix the milk with the eggs to make 1 ½ cups of liquid mixture.
Coat the fillets with the mixture of milk and eggs. Then, cover the fillets with bread crumbs.
Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan, deep fryer, or wok. Cook the fish fillets at 350 degrees.
Once you notice that the fillets are golden brown, remove the fillets from the pan or wok. Dry them on paper towels before serving.
Another way to cook tilapia is to bake it. The ingredients for baked tilapia are 4 tilapia fillets, 2 tsp garlic powder, Italian dressing, pepper, 1 tsp. parsley, 2 tbsp. lemon juice, ½ tsp. Italian seasoning, and fresh carrots cut into small pieces.
Combine all the ingredients together. Place the fillets in the mixture and let them marinate for 50 to 60 minutes.
Place the marinated fillets with the dressing mix in a baking dish and add the carrots.
Bake the fillets at 350 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes.
