How to Install a Pool

Contrary to popular belief, installing a pool can be easy and affordable.

Steps to Install a Pool

  1. Plan your project. Determine how much you are willing and able to spend for your pool. You can’t do this alone. Identify your work team from among your friends and family members.

  2. Set the time table for this project. If your team will work on the pool during weekends, it may take you a month or more. If your group would work on it daily, it would only take a week or two.

  3. Identify the exact location of the pool. Choose an area that receives ample amount of sunlight, but has sufficient shade as well.

  4. You will need materials for excavation, plumbing and constructing the pool. You may decide to ask professional services for excavation and plumbing.

  5. Begin the construction. Mark off the outline of the pool with a set of strings and stakes. Determine the depth of each section. Create a diagram for the pool so that you could clearly describe your project to the excavator.

  6. Start installing the side panels. These side panels will serve as the pool’s walls. These products come in various types such as plastic and fiberglass, aluminum, and galvanized steel.

  7. Construct the pool’s plumbing system. In this stage, it is a good idea for you to acquire the services of a professional plumber.

  8. Shape the bottom. Locate the bottom of the forms and carefully pour the concrete to form footer around them.

  9. Give the structure some time while the concrete is being cured. Afterwards, you can start the process of backfilling the excavation. When the liner is set, you can fill up the pool.
